Brian Donnelly, more widely known as 'KAWS', is an American street artist based in Brooklyn, New York. His prominence began to grow in the 1990's after vandalizing several fashion advertisements on billboards around New York City, adding his iconic character artwork. As a pioneering figure modern street culture, thanks to his artwork and close collaboration with some of Japan's top designers, KAWS is now one of the most recognizable artists occupying space at the intersection of street art and fashion.
His ongoing collaborative series with Uniqlo was originally brought to life due to the involvement of Nigo. Since Nigo's departure, KAWS has continued to work closely with Uniqlo, releasing some of their most popular collections on a semi frequent basis.
